Mary Rose and two of her sons at the FPS Family Beach Day in June

Mary Rose is 46 years old with breast cancer. A single mother, she has described her cancer journey as a roller coaster. When she received her diagnosis, she resolved to stay strong for her three boys. She continued to work during chemotherapy and radiation because she didn’t have a choice. She scheduled her chemo for Thursdays so she could recover over the weekend and return to work on Monday. She is thankful that she’s only missed 5 days of work through treatment.  Unfortunately, she has missed so much time with her children.

Mary Rose shared, “This has been difficult for me but I kept it all in for my kids. A Travel Respite would allow me to spend lost time with my boys.”

Mary Rose is pictured with two of her sons at our FPS Family Beach Day in June! Our Beach Day is part of the support services we offer our families beyond the respite – social gatherings and emotional support for families in the FPS Travel and Staycation Respite programs. We were so pleased that Mary Rose and her family could join over 100 other FPS patients, caregivers and kids for a fun day of community and friendship!

You can give Mary Rose and her boys a Travel Respite at Drummer Boy Camping Resort in Gettysburg, PA from July 25 – July 28! Please donate and help us reach our $3,000 fundraising goal for this month. Donate to July’s goal and you’ll receive feedback from Mary Rose after the respite.
