Remember.
Remember your loved one and provide respite to another family in crisis.
Many of our FPS Respite Recipients love their family members through the dying process. While so painful to watch, this gesture of compassion is also so beautiful. There is no better gift than to care for someone during this time. And with great love comes strong often debilitating grief. We know saying goodbye is the most difficult part of this journey, and we are here to support you and your family during this time.
Memorial donations keep a legacy alive by providing respite to families facing cancer. The generous gifts we receive ensure our mission continues, and we are honored to be part of your journey as you remember a loved one.

Make a Memorial Donation or Visit a Loved One’s Page
Every year, dozens of families remember their loved ones in a unique and meaningful way by directing donations in lieu of flowers to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation in an obituary notice. We are grateful for this support and have a simple two-step process below so you can focus your time on grieving with your family.
How to Direct People to make a Donation to FPS in lieu of Flowers in an Obituary Notice
- For those who want to invite others to support a memorial via an obituary or life celebration, you can create a meaningful Remembrance page on our website. Submit a favorite photo and share a heartwarming story with words of comfort about your loved one on a personal page, and also invite others to do the same. You can then use this unique page and its URL in the loved one’s obituary notice, and your family and friends can leave both a memorial donation and words of comfort.
- If you do not wish to create a page, simply write the following in the obituary: In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in the loved one’s name to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, 620 West Germantown Pike, Suite 150, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19426 or online at www.takeabreakfromcancer.org.
- For those directing memorial donations to For Pete’s Sake in an obituary, we also offer a complimentary Memorial Kit and supportive materials for the family to display at the life celebration. The kit includes beautiful cards to share with any service attendees containing information about the impact of their support to families facing cancer. View a sample of these cards at the top of this page. We will send these materials directly to the funeral home assisting you with your loved one’s service.
Every individual who makes a thoughtful donation in memory of their loved ones will receive a personalized memorial photo card inserted into a meaningful acknowledgment card, thanking them for their generous support of our mission. These memorial cards typically feature a personal photo that highlights the celebration of their life. View samples of these beautiful cards at the top of this page.
Further, we will contact you frequently with the names of the thoughtful donors who supported respite in memory of your loved one. Lastly, we will provide helpful grief resources, including prayers, angel pins and ornaments, meditation books, and other keepsakes that will forever keep your loved one close to your heart!
